3.7 Insulation. The wires and insulation outside of the temperature transmitter stem shall
be protected by a suitable insulation to resist deterioration from oil, engine cleaning fluids, and
heat. The lead wires shall be constructed of flexible stranded wire. A stainless steel flexible
sheath or conduit shall be used to protect the leads between the temperature transmitter stem and
the metal clamp as indicated in figure 1.
3.8 Resistance element. The resistance element of the temperature transmitter shall be
properly sealed within the temperature transmitter housing to withstand total immersion of the
transmitter housing in a liquid bath.
3.9 Temperature-resistance characteristics. The temperature-resistance characteristics of
the temperature transmitter shall conform to the values shown in table II.
